The Hungry Hippo

Hippopotamus amphibius

The 1996, Common Hippo populations were widespread and secure. Since then, severe over exploitation and habitat loss has caused a 20% decline in Common Hippo populations. Over three generations (approximately 30 years), it is likely the population by another 30%. The Common Hippo is listed as threatened with high probabilities of extinction. See my full article, The Hungry Hippo, in the Nature Notes section.
